Metcalf), is stated in the Mercantile Navy Lists of 1880 & 1890 to have been built at Ayre's Quay. The rest of the crew, nine in all, were rescued by a junk the next day, taken to Hainan Island & then on to Hoihow (Haikou), also Hainan Island, where they arrived on Apl. The gravestone inscription, which can be seen here, is quite difficult to read. A number of sites refer to 'lanemetres' with a value of 290. 290 metres of lane length would surely not seem to be sufficient for 170 cars. Built for Charles Hill & Sons, of Bristol (Bristol City Line) & intended for their Bristol to New York service. The christening ceremony was performed by Miss Hill, daughter of the senior owner. The vessel could not be controlled & she crashed heavily into Lone Star, which was modestly damaged. Bristol City Line abandoned the vessel, which was salvaged & presumably repaired, for later in 1887, it became owned by New York & Yucatan Steamship Company, of New York, & renamed Progreso.
Some of the new turbocharger technologies have resulted in almost unbelievable increases in power output per cylinder of the engine, but this alas, is not a saving in fuel consumption per unit of power produced.
Even so, after some study we have decided to compile two fuel consumption charts, the first one we'll say is for naturally aspirated engines and the second we'll say is for turbocharged engines.
Bookseller Inventory # ABE-12686061035 Ask Seller a Question The Booklover is an independent bookshop and comic shop set up in the summer of 2006.
Our aim as booksellers is to provide quality second-hand books, comics, annuals and comic/sci-fi collectables in very good condition (as-new where possible).
Now images as Superflex Foxtrot seem to be most scarce - it would be good, in a single image & in quality, to show the vessel both before & after the conversion. The vessel was still on the Corfu run until early 2013 when it was sold (date of sale? to trial run on p.221), 2 (NY Times archive re 1887 sinking), 3 (Bristol City Line, Wells City #1), 4 (1902 explosion), 5 (Michigan Steamship ref.), 6 (Miramar, link, you now must be registered to access). The total damage was valued at 0,000 including the vessel at 5,000.
I believe that it states that he died on May 31, 1869 at the age of 64. The appearance of the vessel was changed dramatically. Wells City suffered a big gash in her side, & sank stern first opposite the Hoboken ferry at Christopher Street. In 1902, the vessel was owned by Michigan Steamship Company. 3, 1902, when the vessel was lying at the wharf of the Fulton Iron Works at Harbor View, San Francisco, in process of being converted from coal to oil burning, one of the oil tanks blew up, & the ship sagged in the centre ('she had broken in two'). 12 men were initially missing & 'a score were more or less seriously injured'.
Fuel consumption for diesel engines is normally more difficult to express than for petrol engines because of the vast variability in possible applications.
Applications like stationary industrial, marine, automotive, and earthmoving are examples of this variability.
However this is an arbitrary classification, and so it's best to get the actual fuel consumption rate for your engine from the manufacturer's spec sheet and then to decide which fuel consumption table should apply to your engine.
We'll provide more information on this later, with some example spec sheets to show their theoretical consumption.
The fuel consumption rate for many makes of Diesel Engines can be found in a range between 0.380 & 0.450 lbs/hp hour; 172 & 181 grams/hp hour; 231 & 243 grams/k W hour.
